I have several questions about how to set up Ichthyop:
- How can i set PLD of the particles??
- I was reading in "A Lagrangian tool for modelling ichthyoplankton dynamics" that a random displacement model has been implemented for vertical dispersion, but I want to know if a random walk is included for horizontal dispersion?
- Can I set pre-competency and competency periods??
- Can I include mortality rates ?? (Different to lethal temperature)
Thank you very much for the help!

Hi Luisa,

PLD for the particles is "Transport duration" in the Main/Time block of the configuration file editor.

Yes there is the possibility of activating a "random walk" in the horizontal dimension. This is found in the Advanced/Transport/Horizontal dispersion" block. There is no longer random walk in the vertical dimension.

To set a pre-comptency period you can use the "Recruitment limit age" field in the Advanced/Biology/Recruitment/In zones" (on In stain) block.

No you can not include a mortality rate, but if you planned to include a constant mortality rate then you can do that when post-processing your simulation results using the age at recruitment for weighting, as explained in http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0146418 (page 6).

hi Christophe,
Thank you very much for your help.
